The next chapter in CSS

CSS diluent injection

Seismic on early SAGD projectHuff and puff steam injection in heavy oil has been around for 30 years. Are you up to speed on the next chapter in CSS?

Without AppIntel, how would you find out which operators are improving their CSS projects? With AppIntel you can type   CSS   into the KiP box and see all the most recent applications as if it were google.

One operator is injecting diluent in their CSS project. Check out page 23 for a full description of the reservoir theory behind this recovery innovation.

Huff and puff

Inject steam into a well, let it soak, and then produce the well. That's Cyclic Steam Stimulation or CSS.

CSS novelties

Some Alberta operators are running advanced CSS operations.

Although vertical wells have been used historically, horizontal wells have recently become popular for CSS.

Here are a few more advanced CSS scheme innovations.

Rotating direction CSS

Some inject steam in rotating well patterns.

They hope this change in direction will improve recovery.

Rotating wave CSS

Some chase steam from well to well in a wave pattern.

These operators change injection from well to well hoping to reduce the amount of steam required.

Hot water and nitrogen

But rather than steam, one operator injects hot water and nitrogen into a bitumen formation. Then she plans to produce the upgraded bitumen back.

SAGD or CSS?

SAGD and CSS are two ways of introducing heat into bitumen reservoirs. Steam can reduce the viscosity of the reservoir fluid and promote flow to the wellbore.

Some early CSS schemes later became SAGD schemes.

Some CSS schemes tried SAGD and went back to CSS.

And some SAGD schemes have changed to CSS.

AppIntel finds them all

No matter how heat is introduced into the reservoir, AppIntel finds all the details. AppIntel is the largest NGO collection of application technical documents in Western Canada.

AppIntel can send you an email alert when a thermal application is submitted near you.

Appintel can tell you how long it takes to get a thermal application approved. Important information if your cashflow stream depends on timing of approvals. And every project's timeline does.

AppIntel can help you find relevant applications to your proposed project -- as easy as if they were on google.

Cheap and cheery

And AppIntel is cheaper than a quarter of a full-time employee. AppIntel never takes a sick day, never gets busy with other things. AppIntel works weekends and never misses an application of interest.

Find others' applications similar to your own. Quick, cheap and cheery.
