Get by without a SAGD application

plot planThe AER requires an application for almost every piece of construction activity surrounding a SAGD scheme. Except sometimes.

One operator found out that some changes and installations don't require an application -- she could have proceeded with this modification without applying to the AER. You can get his application documents within moments by clicking the blue button labelled "Get this application now" at the bottom of this post.

Unfortunately, the application likely cost $50k to write. It would have been nice to know that they didn't need it.

But how do you know when an application isn't required? Sometimes it's playing a game of is/is not. If you read closed applications, you can tell what types of modifications don't require application approval.

This application helps define the boundary as to when an application is required and when it is not.

We can help you determine when you don't need an application.

We fill application orders on-demand, not in a month. Now you can order one application and receive it in moments -- even if you don't have an AppIntel subscription.

The waiting time to get a historic application from the AER order fulfillment department is currently two to four weeks. Although they promise fulfillment in 3-5 business days, they haven't met that for over a year. Most industry operators are frustrated by the wait.

Regulations change all the time. In most cases, waiting a month makes the information worthless. Over a month, oil prices may change by $10. Or that interesting acquisition target may be gone. Or regulations may change. The cost of waiting is huge.
