One window applications

The regulator was excited about using Single Applications to regulate everything about a field development with a single approval.

Facilities to well spacing, pipelines to injection locations. One ring to rule them all.

Few submitted

Single global applications have existed now for two years and fewer than 10 of these integrated Single Apps have been approved.

These applications require many amendments. Often the amendment applications are very small. But the regulatory approval documents can be very lengthy with dozens of pages.

Big build up - slow start

Single applications were heralded with much fanfare. For example, in August 2016, over 40% of the well licence applications were refused. The reason for the closures? They were closed to be resubmitted under a single app -- a NALA application.

NALA - New Activity Lifecycle Approach was the policy that created the Single Application or more accurately, the Single Approval.
