Recycling that really makes a difference - gas condensate pools

recycling symbol and condensateWhat if liquids drop out in your gas reservoir? How do you recover them?

Without AppIntel, how would you find all the low pressure condensate reservoir strategies? In AppIntel you just type into the KiP search box  gas cycling .

Gas reservoirs get great recovery -- often over 90%. But when they drop out liquids in the reservoir you lose recovery of the most valuable part of the reserve. That's a retrograde condensate reservoir. How do you recover all the value?

One operator has restarted a gas cycling scheme to squeeze more liquids out of his reservoir. He knows liquids have dropped out in the pool. He knows the pressure is too low to recover them. So he will inject lean gas hoping to re-dissolve the hexanes and heptanes.

Gas cycling operations

The concept of dissolving liquid condensate in gas pools has been around for a long time. Sometimes called a lean gas stripping operation, these gas cycling schemes get most of their value from the extra liquids recovered.

Gas injectant composition and reservoir pressure are important parts of the success of these operations.

Leading edge or Quick copy?

Rather than take the plunge and try to be on the leading edge, it's best to read the applications of others who are. If their experiment works, you can quickly copy it. If they fail, you've saved yourself some headaches.

Very few gas cycling operations are operating in the province even though there are hundreds of pools that could benefit. This operator says he will find other pools to cycle. Can you find them first?

What about the operational problems that go with such schemes? They are well set out in the applications of other operators who have tried these operations.

The collective wisdom of the entire industry can be found in applications to the regulator. What worked well. What problems were encountered. What failed and how they failed.

You can find it all through AppIntel.
