How to double tight flood recovery
Every company has a flood. But how do you flood ultra tight rock?
Without AppIntel, how would you find all the tight flood strategies? In AppIntel you just type into the KiP search box tight flood
.
One operator believed he could double recovery in this tight Viking pool by injecting in horizontal multi-fractured wells. He targets 25% recovery in rock that has a vertical perm of less than 0.1 mD.
You can see his plans, his reservoir characterization, and his simulation. You can also check out the offset drilling opportunity on his mapping. Help yourself to his application documents through our secure checkout below.

AppIntel helps you keep up on all the tight flood strategies
What's the tightest flood someone has tried? How successful was it?
How do multifrack horizontal wells fare as injectors?
What role does water conditioning play in tight floods?
Answers to these questions and many others are available in the application documents of others. You can see the success (and failure) of their field flood pilots.

Flooding extremely tight rock: evolution or revolution?
Real flooding is far more advanced and complicated than you learned in the text books. And the homogeneous bounded circular reservoir is very different from a sub 1 mD formation.
These types of floods are described more by their edge traits, not their average matrix. Their success is defined by their heterogeneity, not their homogeneity.
Find the corner shot
In his flood documents, the operator unwittingly showed a corner shot on this flood. This corner may be pressured up by now due to his consistent injection.
Check out the opportunity on broker land. Maybe you can drill or farm-in.
Operators submit maps with their applications that contain corner shots all the time.
It's not a good idea to submit such maps, but operators have done it over and over again.

More than injectant
The most profitable floods have less to do with the specialized injectant and much more to do with regular flood maintenance. Even floods with exotic injectants can perform very poorly.
Patient, persistent flood maintenance can reap very big dividends.
Why aquire?
Why acquire as oil prices are rising? Why not tune up your own flood for very little capital and reap the benefits of increased production?
We've seen many out-of-balance floods sold three times to different operators without being balanced. Of the 1000 active floods in Alberta, we estimate that only 50 have been balanced in the last three years.
On the other hand, if you have a chance to buy a flood that hasn't been tuned up for many years, you may be able to add significant value after you buy it. Just make sure it's not too far gone.
